Tianjin International Community Club(TICC)

Tianjin International Community Club (TICC)

The Tianjin International Community Club (TICC) is the most prominent social organisation for expatriates in Tianjin.
According to current president Chintana Griffin, the TICC was initially set up in 1988 to establish Western medical facilities.
Unfortunately, the initial goal was not realised but since then the TICC has helped expatriates in other ways.
``The TICC now serves as a social, cohesive organisation to bring Tianjin expatriates together as a family,'' she said.
She said the TICC helps organise weekly activities which include arts and crafts classes, chinese painting classes and even mahjong sessions at its office at the Olympic Tower.
The TICC, she said was run by a small group of women who volunteered their time and effort to help organise activities for the expat community.
``However we also wish to bring something to the local Tianjin community,'' she said, adding every year the TICC members raised and donated monies to a local orphanage.
On the popular ``Ball on the Wall'' dinner held yearly, Griffin said tickets for this year's ball on May 18 would be available soon. Posters would be posted soon on where and how to purchase the tickets.
Expatriates living in Tianjin are welcome to join in the TICC's activities or simply to meet new people.
