Take care of your hair
We all know the saying `` you look good, you feel good" and nothing
helps you more than knowing your hair is in its best shape ever. We
have unearthed some tips on helping you keep your tresses (whether
long, short, blond or jet black) in top condition. Remember though,
having a good haircut is the prerequisite for a good hairstyle.
Your hair is generally categorized into three states; curly, wavy
or straight.
If your hair is naturally curly, then count yourself lucky. You
have the look some spend a small fortune to acquire at the hairdressers
Õ. Also soft curls are making a comeback after the razor-straight
look has been well and truly spent.
As your hair is prone to dryness, use a moisturizing shampoo and
conditioner. Pantene's same combination shampoo and conditioner
are a good bet here. After washing, avoid the usual habit of rubbing
hair dry and just gently blot dry. Apply 4 to 6 drops of silicone-based
shine serum to control frizz (the thicker your hair, the more you
can use). Detangle with fingers and allow to air dry.
If your hair is wavy, then you have the best type as with little
effort you can transform your hair to curly, straight or wear it
in a very sexy, playful style.
Lather up with a shine-enhancing shampoo and conditioner. After
rinsing, smooth and separate wet strands with wide-tooth comb and
spritz with silicone-based shine serum from ends to roots. Run a
dollop of mousse (try Pantene Pro-V Curl-Defining mousse) between
your palms and scrunch hair while its barely damp. Then blow-dry
hair with a diffuser, scrunching as you go along.
If you have straight hair, then you have by far the easiest hair
to manage and nothing says polished more than a straight, sleek
style.
For fine, straight hair use a deep-cleaning shampoo daily and use
a light conditioner on the ends only. For thicker hair, use a light
leave-in conditioner. You can also apply a clarifying gel treatment
to roots once a week to prevent oil buildup. Blow dry hair with
head upside down, lifting the roots with your fingers. When hair
is almost dry, flip your head back up and use a flat paddle brush
to smooth.
Health is Wealth
You're in the pink of health? Excellent! However here's a little
piece of information to help you get through the times you're not.
You know when you're sprained something or the other or worse, have
unexplained aches and pains. We're found a recipe to make a heating
pad just from things lying about the house. Also we give you some
advice on preventing a backache.
How to Make a Homemade Heating Pad
1. Fill the foot of a tube sock with rice. Do not use instant rice.
2.Tie the end of the tube sock into a knot.
3.Place the rice-filled sock in your microwave oven for 2 to 3 minutes
on high power. Time may vary by the microwave so check after 1 _
minutes.
4.Remove the sock from the microwave and place on the area of the
body where needed.
Remember: The sock may be very hot. Don't place it directly unto
skin. Place a towel between your skin and the sock.
Backache Prevention
If you suffer from a stiff back especially in the mornings, begin
the day with a few small back stretches. Try another stretch, start
with arms at chest level and then stretch your arms to the back,
up and over the shoulders.
If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is properly supported.
Place a small roll in the arch of your lower spine (at waist height)
to maintain its normal S-curve. A towel or cushion rolled up will
do.
When lifting, lower and raise yourself at the knees and never bend
down from the waist. Keep your back straight and hold the object
close to your body.
Balance items you carry evenly on both sides of your body and hold
them close or use a knapsack.
Sleep on your back if possible with knees raised on a pillow. If
you sleep on your side, a pillow between the knees is a big help.
If you need a firm bed, place a board between the mattress and
box spring. For backache sufferers, sleeping on the hard floor can
help.
