Popular with tourists, business people and locals alike, the International Beer Festival is Qingdaos most colorful event featuring trade, cultural exchanges and lots of sports. Organized for the first time in 1991, the festival is now an annual event that begins on July 8 and lasts two weeks. Following a grand opening ceremony, there is also Chinese drum music concert, fireworks display other folk arts performances. Dozens of beer brands from all over the wold are also featured. Other events are also held then to coincide with the festival. They include the Qingdao Summer Art Festival, watersports events, sand sculpture contests, Chinese calligraphy shows and painting exhibitions.

¡°Love of the Sea¡± Tourist Festival:
This festival is held in mid July. Various activities including sports, angling, calligraphy and painting exhibition and film show are popular with both Qingdao people and tourists from home and abroad.
