A Memorable Chinese Tea Performance
On Oct 26, foreign and local visitors spent a memorable afternoon
discovered the fine art of tea-making at the He Yi Xuan Tea House.
Its manager and tea expert Zhao Nan took special
care to convey the very intricate and delicate tea-making process
while his assistants demonstrated the method of "making a cuppa."
Organized by Jin Magazine, the tea-making event
was aimed at enlightening foreigners the rich history and ritual
of tea-making by the people who first introduced it to the world,
the Chinese.
Many
guests were impressed with the ceremony and said they felt they
learnt more about Chinese traditions and the reasons behind them.
Afterward, everyone was given a taste of some delicately brewed
Oolong tea, Zhao asked a folk artist to show the guests how to "weave"
tea. Many guests tried their hand at it and found it was not as
easy as it looked.
Later a calligraphy master showed the visitors the
fine art of Chinese calligraphy.
All in all, the consensus was that it was a great
learning experience and an afternoon well spent.
