Presentation On What
To Do When A Medical Emergency Arises
The Tianjin International Community Center (TICC)
is sponsoring a gathering for Tianjin's expatriate community to
learn what to do in a medical emergency.
The speakers at this gathering will be doctors and representatives
from the international hospitals and clinics in Beijing, as well
as from the AEA/SOS Clinic in Tianjin. Following are the details.
Date: Tuesday, November 19th, 2002

The focus of this meeting will be what to do in
the event of a medical emergency, such as who to call first, how
to order western-equipped ambulance; what to do in extreme medical
emergencies that require medical evacuation, and what to expect
in all these situations, including costs, etc.. As well, there will
be an opportunity to present your questions.
This year, the TICC November Ladies Luncheon &
Christmas Bazaar will
fall on November 21st, and will be held at the new Renaissance Hotel.
This luncheon is the last gathering before the Christmas holidays
and is also referred to as the Christmas Bazaar. Typically there
are many crafts, ornaments and baked goods, made by the TICC community,
on sale, with proceeds going to the orphanage. This is tradiationally
one of the most well-attended luncheons of the year and helps to
put us all in the holiday spirit.
This luncheon requires more lady-power than 1 or 2, so, if you are
interested, we need you, to help organize this fabulous luncheon....

The TICC is holding its Annual Winter Ball on December 7th at the
Sheraton Hotel. This is a formal affair that in addition to loads
of fun & dancing, includes dinner, drinks, and desserts. Although
the final details, such as ticket cost, menu, etc. are not quite
sorted, you can email Bronwyn James at bronwynjames@hotmail.com

Of course, all profits from this event go the local Tianjin orphanage
that TICC has been donating resources to, for the past few years.

Well-Known American Author and Psychologist
to Visit Tianjin
Dr. John Townsend, a well-known clinical psychologist
and co-author of the best-selling book Boundaries, will visit Tianjin
in November to conduct a seminar based on his years of experience
as a marriage and family therapist.
Townsend's seminar, Boundaries: When to Say Yes,
When to Say No, To Take Control of Your Life, will be held Saturday,
November 16, from 9am -5pm at Tianjin Lu You Xue Yuan (Tianjin Travel
University), 38 Zi Jin Shan Lu, behind the Dickson Hotel. Registration
begins at 8:15am. The seminar is sponsored by Tianjin International
Fellowship and is open to foreign passport holders only. The cost
is 40 RMB per person or 100 RMB per family with teen-agers, and
scholarships are available upon request. No childcare will be provided.

The preceding evening, on Friday, November 15, Townsend
will lead a discussion titled Relationship Radar, focusing on ways
to detect "safe"Ó and "unsafe" relationships.
The discussion will be held from 7pm-9 pm at the same location,
with doors opening at 6:30pm. This event is free; no tickets are
necessary. (Foreign passport holders only.)
Boundaries, written by Townsend and Dr. Henry Cloud,
addresses specific issues that confront today's families, such as
living a life out of control, having people take advantage of us,
having trouble saying no, being disappointed with God because of
unanswered prayers, and many more.
In addition to the best-selling Boundaries, Townsend
and Cloud have written Boundaries in Marriage, Boundaries in Dating,
Boundaries with Kids, 12 "Christian"Ó Beliefs That
Can Drive You Crazy, Safe People, The Mom Factor, Raising Great
Kids and the newly released How People Grow. Townsend also is the

radio broadcasts.
