Looking for an exotic flower or flora or simply searching for a unique gift, well look no further than the Baoji East Road Flower and Animal Market!

Although it is located inconspicuously about 200 meters at the back of the Isetan Department Store, the Baoji East Road Flower Market is in fact, one of the earliest markets in Tianjin and when it opened about 10 years ago, was the most popular and largest markets of its kind in the city.

Like most flower and animal markets, it offers a wide range of flora and plants as well as highly popular pets' stuff such as cloth, food and house and goldfish, puppie. But listen: make sure whether the pet vendor is legal or not before you deeide to buy puppies or kittens from him/her. Unlike most markets, it also sells unusual items such as coral, shells and in fact any kind of item you would need to fill a state-sized aquarium. In addition you can also find small gems (if you look in the right places) such as delicate glass candle holders and decorative items, which are a fraction of the cost at department stores.

There are more than 100 `shopsÕ here and everyone is ready to part their wares at the right price. Be sure to look around and check the prices before you buy as prices can vary considerably. As to be expected the place fills up during the weekend with locals and foreigners alike. A tip: if you are looking to get good deals on flowers, go closer to closing time, i.e. after 5pm when the vendors are anxious to get rid of their stock.

Location:At the junction of Yingkou Road, Xi'an Road and Guizhou Road.
How to get there: It is better to take a taxi, bus or ride bicycle since it is located in the downtown area and parking space is limited. You can take buses - No. 631, 867, 954, 3, 603, 600, 800, etc.
Business Hours: 9:00am-8:00pm
