2003 Sping Festival Gala
Every year the Spring Festival Gala is a much anticipated event and this year is no exception. So much excitement and hype surrounds this event that even the selection of the general director of the 2003 Spring Festival gala was a hotly discussed topic.

The man who was awarded that distinction is Jin Yue, a director at the CCTV Art and Entertainment Center. A graduate from the Beijing Broadcasting Institute, Jin has worked in several Spring Festival galas in 1994, 1995 and 2001. A talented man, he has also won 16 awards including China TV Arts "Starlight Prize" and the Best Director Award.

Jin said that the gala was a collective event which needed the hard work of many dedicated and talented people to ensure the best ideas and designs were brought to the fore. "The gala is a crystallization of all the previous and present workers' collective wisdom," he said.

He said next year's gala would focus on overall coherence, introducing new songs and skits or small plays.

At the moment, a team made up of well-known artistes from fields of art and literature field are working on a cohesive and innovative format for the 2003 gala.
